Bombeco items
When a brick falls, it sometimes reveals an item. Grabbing the right item at the right time decides matches. This guide explains what each one does, its limits and how to use it.
About 35% of the bricks hide an item. Among items, the three basic ones show up far more often than the rare ones. An item on the floor is destroyed if fire passes over it, so grab it quickly.
Basic items
| Extra bomb | One more bomb at a time, up to six. The more bombs, the more traps you set, and the more dangerous your own escape route gets. |
|---|---|
| Fire | One more square of range in each direction, up to eight. Long range covers whole corridors, but it also raises the chance of catching yourself in a chain reaction. |
| Speed | The character moves faster, up to five levels. It is the item that best helps you escape your own bombs, and the only one the bots cannot exploit well. |
Rare items
Kick
Permanent. Walking head-on into a bomb pushes it. It slides one square at a time until it hits a wall, brick, another bomb or a player. The fuse keeps burning while it slides. Use it to push away a bomb that blocks your exit, or to send a bomb at your opponent. The kick only works if you are lined up with the corridor lane.
Shield
Makes you immune to fire for eight seconds, and the character blinks during that time. It is the best moment to step into the middle of an explosion to reach an opponent. The shield does not protect you from the sudden death wall.
Streak
Stores one charge, up to two. The next time you drop a bomb, all your free bombs go out in a row, in front of the character, until you run out of bombs or hit an obstacle. It works best with extra bombs. A long row closes a whole corridor and turns a confrontation into a trap.
Full fire
Raises your fire range to the maximum and keeps it there until the end of the round. It is rare and very strong, especially in arenas with few bricks, where fire crosses the whole arena.
Skull
A risky item. Grabbing it curses your character for ten seconds, with a random effect: moving slowly, having your directions reversed or dropping bombs on your own every so often. A purple aura warns the other players. Avoid the skull when you are near opponents, or grab it on purpose when you have room to wait out the curse.
Quick tips
- Prefer bomb and speed before fire. Long range with no way to flee only kills you.
- Do not leave items in plain sight: an opponent's fire can destroy them, and you lose the advantage.
- With the skull in another player's hands, keep your distance: a bomb dropped on its own can catch you.
